Jeff Dolan
It seems Jeff’s middle name must be Versatile, because he has been singing so many different
styles and genres of music professionally for so many years. As a classical vocalist, Jeff
has sung opera (The Marriage of Figaro, Gianni Schicchi Don Giovanni, et al.), oratorio,
operetta (The Zoo, The Mikado), and choral work with the Roger Wagner Chorale, The William Hall
Chorale, and the Phoenix Bach Choir, to name a few. In addition, Jeff was a member of the
award-winning vocal jazz group Beachfront Property, producing three CD’s and touring nationwide.
He toured and recorded with the Ray Conniff orchestra and singers, performing around the world
and appearing on eight albums. Jeff recently found himself on stage, singing back-up for
Christina Aguilera at the 2005 Grammy awards in Los Angeles. He sings with the Lucky Stars
and the Bill Elliott Swing Orchestra. He has done recording and live work for theater,
television, and film, including five Promise Keeper albums and an animated television show
theme song. Jeff also has considerable experience as a church music director. He holds a
bachelor’s degree in music, vocal performance, from Cal State Fullerton. Jeff got his
barbershop experience singing with the Dapper Dans of Disneyland for several years.
So when he and his and four children moved to the Phoenix area in August 2003,
he searched out a barbershop chapter and ended up with the chorus now known as
the Spirit Of Phoenix., where he serves as associate director and bass section leader. Jeff’s singing
career continues to be active. He had a role in a recently released Blue Cross/Blue Shield
commercial called “Softball” and recorded the singing baritone for twolead-ins to Good Morning
Arizona on NewsChannel 3. He has recorded four CD’s with the Phoenix Bach Choir, and is
looking forward to a fifth this fall. His internationally recognized barbershop quartet,
Dazzle! placed fourth in the Far
Western District and performed two years in a row in
international competition. He was recently featured ina professional production of “Forever Plaid”, playing the beloved Smudge.
Jeff's son, Danny is in his first year in the UCLA
engineering school; Bonnie is a junior and heavily involved in color guard; Hayley is
going into fourth grade and loves piano and princesses; Claire is just finishing first
grade, and loves everything.
And in addition to everything else Jeff has going on in his life, he will be commuting to Tucson
on Wednesday nights to direct the Tucson Sunshine Chorus. I don't think "Versatile" begins
to cover it.
